Sheninger-thumbOpening Keynote: Eric Sheninger

Eric is a Senior Fellow and Thought Leader on Digital Leadership with the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE). Prior to this he was the award-winning Principal at New Milford High School.  Under his leadership his school became a globally recognized model for innovative practices. His work focuses on leading and learning in the digital age as a model for moving schools and districts forward. This has led to the formation of the Pillars of Digital Leadership, a framework for all educators to initiate sustainable change to transform school cultures.  His main focus is purposeful integration of technology to facilitate student learning, improve communications with stakeholders, enhance public relations, create a positive brand presence, discover opportunity, transform learning spaces, and help educators grow professionally.
Eric is a CDE Top 30 award recipient, Bammy Award winner, NASSP Digital Principal Award winner, PDK Emerging Leader Award recipient, winner of Learning Forward’s Excellence in Professional Practice Award, Google Certified Innovator, Adobe Education Leader, and ASCD 2011 Conference Scholar.

Dr. Perez considers himself to be an Inclusive Learning Evangelist whose mission is to help educators create more inclusive learning environments for all students through the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, the selection of appropriate assistive technology for those students who need it to overcome barriers to learning, and the authoring of accessible content.


 

Featured Speaker: Don Wettrick

Don Wettrick is the Innovation Coordinator at Noblesville High School, just outside Indianapolis, IN. He is the author of “Pure Genius: Building a Culture of Innovation and Taking 20% Time to the Next Level.” Wettrick has worked as a middle school and high school teacher; educational and innovation consultant; and educational speaker. Don is passionate about helping students find their educational opportunities and providing them with the digital tools they need to give them a competitive edge.
Don has lectured across the US, Europe, and Africa about collaboration, social media use, and work environments that enable innovation. Through his travel, he has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley to Ghana, and seeks to bring that entrepreneurial mindset into our classrooms. He was was honored by Centric for the Indiana Innovation Award for his work in innovation and education. Most importantly Don works with educators, students, and entrepreneurs to bring innovation and collaborative skills into education.

Featured Speaker: Jonathan Gerlach

An Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow Emeritus and NASA/Teacher’s College Endeavor Fellow for STEM Education, Jonathan W. Gerlach is the National Consultant for STEM Education Initiatives at Discovery Education where he provides his expertise in STEM Education, curriculum development, professional development, coaching, and digital transition to school districts across the country. Jonathan began his STEM education work in Hillsborough County Public Schools as a district level science coordinator where he was named the Florida Association of Science Teachers Science Teacher of the Year as well as the Florida Engineering Foundation STEM Educator of the Year. Jonathan is thought of as a leader in STEM education and has authored many publications.


Brad FountainFeatured Speaker: Brad Fountain

Brad is a passionate educator with over 20 years of educational experience. He began his career teaching in a 3-5 multi-age classroom in rural North Carolina where he utilized some of the earliest educational internet based web resources. He is a dynamic speaker who draws his inspiration from his family including his wife, who is a classroom teacher, and two school-aged children Alexandra and Asher.  Since joining Discovery Education he helped launch the Discovery Educator Network. Always looking to continue to push the envelope he has worked with schools and school districts on utilizing the latest technology including tablets and iPads, connecting the latest brain research to the educational technology, professional development for administrators on using technology, and implementing 1-to-1 initiatives.
